Statutory Rape? We'll Fight to Beat the Charges!
Underage Sex Defense in Ramsey and Hennepin County, Minnesota
Statutory sex laws have their purpose. Still, charges of statutory rape are often among the most absurd. They can spring from a legitimate, consensual relationship between two young people. Sometimes young teens get charged with crimes they can't even understand.

And let's not ignore the ever-present specter of false accusations. A vindictive C-student knows how much power these accusations can wield over a teacher. But such students rarely understand the true consequences of crying wolf.
Our Promise is to Fight Your Charges … and Keep You off the Registry!
At Ramsay Law Firm, PLLC, we focus first on helping our clients beat their charges. We won't consider a plea bargain until all other options have been exhausted. And when we say "all other options," we mean it.

Why Would Anyone Falsely Accuse Anyone of Statutory Rape?
That question can have a lot of different answers. Unfortunately, none of them will make you feel any better about your current situation. But we've found that the majority of deceitful accusations are motivated by just a few common factors:
- During divorce, one spouse may accuse the other of sexual misconduct (and can even get the children to play along) in order to gain a legal advantage.
- A suspicious adult may interrogate a child, unwittingly planting the idea in the child's mind and creating false or distorted memories.
- A child may knowingly make a false accusation out of vindictiveness or for other reasons.
This may describe your case, and it may not. But in general, any false accusation made without malicious intent requires complex psychological analysis to explain. For more information.
But all the same, those convicted of statutory rape still get referred to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) and put on the Sex Offender Registry. We do everything we can to keep this from happening to our clients.
